As the construction and utility industry continues to transform, Dunwoody College of Technology is thrilled to invite applications for an Adjunct Instructor in our new and unique Power & Construction Engineering Technology program. This program is structured to meet the demands for the utility and construction industries. Focusing on utility design and the built environment, students will graduate prepared to be an engineer in the construction arena. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional eager to share their knowledge and inspire the next generation of engineers.The program is designed to align with ABET guidelines for Construction Engineering Technology and offers a comprehensive exploration for the design, estimating and project management of large scale electrical construction and electrical utility projects.

As our adjunct instructor, you will develop the coursework to guide students through hands-on, real world projects, enabling them to develop and execute practical solutions for various types of electrical design problems . Your expertise will lead students to understand the use of the latest in industry software for large-scale electrical systems. Additionally, you will help advance an understanding of controls and protection and gain a thorough understanding of low, medium, and high voltages while teaching them the latest skills needed for a dynamic industry.

  • Deliver hands-on training to ensure students can proficiently demonstrate the use of appropriate software for utility and construction design and estimating.
  • Develop and enhance the curriculum to reflect the latest trends and advancements in the electrical design and construction engineering field.

Course Description: Design medium, low-voltage, and power-limited systems that integrate with existing building electrical systems employing electrical codes and standards and energy appraisals. Practical design implementation is emphasized with utilization of 2D and 3D modeling and analysis

Course Name:PCET4003 Power Protection & Controls
Course Description: Analyze the components and operation of protective devices and controls in electric utility generation stations, distribution substations, and building services and feeders. Examination of protective device functions, control systems, design perimeters, and coordination from generation to end user. Practical design implementation and coordination is emphasized with utilization of 2D and 3D modeling and analysis software.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with AutoCAD Utility design and/or MicroStation. Specifically for PCET4003
  • A master's degree in the subject they will be teaching; OR
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the subject they will be teaching; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in the subject they will be teaching and related professional licensure and related industry experience
