Duties
  • Loads and unloads freight on or from, trucks or other conveyances and pack and unpack boxes, carton and other containers.
  • Determines quantities of material on hand by counting, weighing or measuring.
  • Identifies freight by piece and item on Government Bills of Lading (GBL), DD1348’s, Material Movement Documents (MMD), Delivery Control List (DCL), requisitions, carrier arrival notices and other transportation documents.
  • Performs count and damage record discrepancies.
  • Processes material from receiving areas to storage areas.
  • Assembles material for shipments or for issue.
  • Places material in priority sequence for processing.
  • Operates material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, trucks (gas and electric), hand and electric pallet trucks, pallet jacks and stock picking carts.
  • Uses various hand tools such as hammers, wire cutters, pocket knives, carton openers, nail pullers, cut-off wheels and power hacksaws.
  • May be required to shovel snow and sand walkways, loading areas, docks; and sweep floors, loading docks, ramps and outside areas in order to perform duties.
  • May be required to attend nuclear, radiological, sub-safe/level I, Controlled Industrial Material (CIM) and Scope of Certification (SOC) training in order to be qualified to handle all types of materials.
