About the Position: Fort Johnson, formerly Fort Polk, is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano and Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria and Lake Charles. The area is considered rural and includes Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities located nearby.



Duties
  • Receives, logs and reviews disciplinary/administrative case files, external inquiries and staff actions for compliance with applicable regulatory guidance in content, procedures, and documentation.
  • Prepares memoranda for correspondence for the reviewing attorney, drafts legal opinions, identifies deficiencies and recommends appropriate course of action.
  • Performs substantive legal research of court decisions, case decisions, applicable state, and local statues, regulations, and opinions relevant to case work.
  • Researches and analyzes facts surrounding administrative actions to ensure discharge or adverse personnel actions meet regulatory requirements and the rights of affected personnel are upheld.
  • Researches legal issues relevant to cases/investigations under consideration and prepares written summaries or memoranda.
  • Prepares draft responses/opinions/action documents for the signature of the reviewing attorney, decision/action authority in specific cases IAW established formats and regulations.
  • Prepares and assembles summarized testimony and reports, prepares and marks exhibits and records/reports, and compilation and organization of case materials.
