SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:

The SQL Developer 's primary focus will be to optimize queries for Aurora MySQL on AWS to improve performance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the performance and efficiency of production database systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify and resolve performance issues in Aurora MySQL post-migration from SQL server Analyze and rewrite stored procedures to improve performance Monitor performance metrics of the Amazon Aurora cluster using Amazon RDS Performance Insights and Amazon CloudWatch to identify performance bottlenecks and proactively tune Analyze slow queries, prioritizing frequently run and long-running queries Use wait event data and thread state data specific to Aurora MySQL to determine where sessions are spending time and identify performance problems. Collaborate with application development teams on schema and data types for performance improvement. Provide recommendations and implement responsible production updates to minimize downtime, considering different trade-offs due to the DB integration with various applications. Be a technical team advocate, ensuring clear direction and efficient execution Engage with clients including presentations, technical decisions, and education opportunities Learn, research, and stay up to date on best practices and evolutionary capability in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud Share knowledge and skills with other Trek10 team members and client teams Occasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and attend company functions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

6+ years of general IT experience (programming, hardware, software, etc) 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services 3+ years experience with AWS Cloud database services including Aurora RDS Native patterns with services like AWS Lambda 1+ year code-defined infrastructure experience 1+ Continuous Integration and Deliver (CI/CD) experience Have worked with Agile Project Management or other project management work methodologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Proven expertise in MySQL performance tuning and optimization. Experience with Aurora MySQL and AWS environment. Familiarity with Microsoft SQL server, although direct work with SQL servers is not required. Experience with automated schema and data type changes using tools like Liquibase. AWS Associate and/or Professional Level Certification Intermediate experience working in a consultative, client-facing consulting role Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated documentation and presentation skills
