Java Lead Developer

Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking a highly qualified Java Lead Developer with experience developing and building hard-working, scalable, enterprise applications. You will be part of a digital software team that works on high-demand applications. Our leads have a passion for high-quality, reliable, and maintainable code. You will work side by side with product managers, designers, and clients, making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users.

  • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Location: Chicago, IL.

*Candidate is required to be in the office 3 days a week*

Roles and responsibilities:

As a Java Lead Developer, candidate will be part of an Agile Team working on understanding requirements, developing new functionality/enhance existing application functionality, perform unit/integration testing and providing any required support.

· Involve in requirement gathering and understand them

· Examine and identify necessities by evaluating business requirements.

· Develop new processes or modify existing processes based on business needs

· Prepare accurate design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

· Perform thorough unit testing and integration testing of the developed modules

· Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.

· Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.

· Participate in Production migration activities of the developed modules

· Recommend solutions to improve new and existing solutions.

· Educate staff members through training and individual support.

· Offer support by responding to system problems in a timely manner.

· Understand and document data flows in and between different systems/applications

Required Qualifications:

· Java, J2EE

· Design and Development of Spring Boot based microservices deployable on cloud platforms.

· Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Data JPA, Spring JMS. Spring MVC, Spring Cloud)

· XML and JSON technologies

· Event Driven Microservices (JMS or Kafka).

· RDBMS such as Oracle. SQL knowledge

· Creating Automated Test Cases using Junit and Mockito

· Build and Deploy tools, CI/CD Pipelines

· Knowledge of React JS and Drools would be an added advantage.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
