Job Title:         Tooling and Layout Manager

Rate of Pay:    $99,840/year to $110,000/year

 

Duties: Manage the team of tooling and automation engineers and support industrialization of new products. Define specific tooling, and ensure manufacturing and implementation in production. Define and update function procedures, way of working, and methodologies according to established guidelines. Responsible for team staffing according to the project's firm and forecasted workload. Define roadmap for automation deployment and tooling strategy. Maintain the team’s skills matrix and build the annual training plan. Increase maturity of the team using APSYS roadmap. Identify the need for tooling with the Costing Manager. Define footprint needed and facility footprint to execute the bid. Evaluate total cost of the tooling, broken down by study (specification, design), manufacturing and implementation, and maintenance. During specification and design phases, contribute to technical solution decisions associated with the manufacturing process. Build tooling schedule deployment to meet project schedule. Analyze the tooling requested and propose an adequate solution. Write functional specifications and obtain necessary approvals from Process & Manufacturing engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Environmental Health & Safety (IHM), and Industrial Quality representatives. Participate in RFQ analysis, and contribute to the business award with Sourcing. Perform or sub-contract tooling design, and validate through design reviews. Validate the manufactured tooling. Perform operating procedure when needed and provide training to manufacturing team on use. Develop inspection operations, handling, and maintenance instructions, write periodic inspection sheets, and perform internal audits. Ensure day to day monitoring of tooling use and support team in solving issues that impact manufacturing or quality. Provide support during first articles manufacturing. Demonstrate QCD and EHS improvement linked to tooling through efficient action plans. Measure performance linked with site industrial objectives and through APSYS audit. Participate in Alstom Tooling network. Contribute to the enrichment of the AT database of standard tooling specifications. Participate in continuous improvement actions (SWIP) in support for Production.

 

Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical) or related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a Tooling and Layout Manager-related occupation.
