Dyne has a broad pipeline for serious muscle diseases, including clinical programs for myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and a preclinical program for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
Role Summary:
The Scientist, Neuromuscular Research role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the expansion of Dyne’s research pipeline, building on the positive clinical data in DMD and DM1 programs. To this end, this role will collaborate closely with research and program teams to support the identification and characterization of new targets and the discovery of therapeutics in new indications areas, including neurological diseases. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of in vitro and in vivo disease biology, through evaluation of efficacy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and mechanisms of action of our therapeutic molecules. The scientist will lead from the bench and conduct the development and implementation of cell-based and murine disease models to support ongoing projects. As part of the Dyne research team, this individual is an innovative and collaborative team player and a highly motivated self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced team setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Independently design, execute, analyze and interpret in vitro and in vivo studies to establish proof-of-mechanism and proof-of-concept for therapeutic approaches Evaluate and validate disease models Prepare and present new disease target proposals including target biology and safety assessments Work cross-functionally to plan and execute in vitro and in vivo studies Collaborate with external research partners Design, evaluate, and develop new assays to answer key disease questions to drive programs towards clinical development Effectively communicate findings to team members and management Contribute to building a positive culture of teamwork and scientific excellence Strong organizational skills, multitasking, attention to details, and ability to effectively document researchEducation and Skills Requirements:
PhD in neuroscience, molecular biology or related life sciences, or BSc/MSc with 5 or more years of relevant experience will also be considered Experience conducting in vivo studies with small rodents, including: Dosing by several routes of administration Tissue collection and processing for downstream assays Proficiency with cellular and molecular biology techniques including: Cell culture ELISA and other plate-based assays. Western blots Gene expression analysis by qPCR or digital PCR Assay development Ability of developing and implementing robust and reproducible assays Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to work efficiently in a fluid cross-functional research environment with limited supervision Ability to learn quickly and think independently Problem-solving skills to identify issues, troubleshoot and develop innovative solutions Experienced in the use of software applications such as Prism, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience in providing scientific and technical leadership applied to novel assay development, advancing challenging drug discovery programs, and mentoring junior colleagues Strong track record of scientific accomplishments with relevant publications and presentations Experience managing CROs would be desirable Experience in neuroscience is desirable, however candidates with relevant qualifications in other disease areas will also be considered
