Baltimore, United States University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine Full time

The Pedra Laboratory at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting postdoctoral fellows to study tick-borne diseases. We use a variety of technologies to understand fundamental interactions between the arthropod vector, the pathogen (s) and the mammalian host. We have projects related to arthropod immunology, skin immunology, immunometabolism and neuroimmunology.

Recent representative publications and pre-prints of our group include: Rolandelli et al., 2024 - PMID: 38459063; Singh et al. 2024 - PMID: 38380961; Marnin et al. 2023 - PMID: 37986907; Samaddar et al. 2023 - PMID: 37292783; O’Neal et al. 2023 - PMID: 37155900; Forrest et al. 2023 - PMID: 37227948; Oliva Chávez et al. 2021 - PMID: 34140472; Samaddar et al. 2020 - PMID: 32819827; McClure Carroll  et al. 2019 - PMID: 30559180;  Shaw  et al. 2018 - PMID: 30301592; Shaw  et al. 2017 - PMID: 28195158.

The Pedra laboratory values diversity and inclusivity and takes advantage of an academic/research environment where professional growth and distinct career choices are appreciated. Motivated and ingenious trainees are encouraged to pursue independent projects.

The Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area is well-placed geographically, famous for its rich history, elegant cities and beautiful natural scenery. The Metro Region is an especially attractive workplace due to its moderate cost of living, nice blend between urban/suburban life, and a booming life science/technology industry coupled with government jobs.

To apply: Please submit a CV (3 pages or less), a letter summarizing research interests, experience and goals (1 page or less), and the names and phone numbers/e-mail of three references to: Joe Pedra, Ph.D. Professor, E-mail: jpedra@som.umaryland.edu (pedralab.com).
