What you will do
Amgen’s Decision Sciences team of Commercial Data and Analytics (CD&A) department is looking for an analytics executive who possesses excellent communication skills, has the ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders (including Sales and Marketing VPs, Business Unit Heads, and Finance leadership), and is able to translate analytical outputs into meaningful recommendations for these clients.

In this vital role you will provide inputs, insights, and recommendations towards crafting and driving our marketing strategies, ensuring our products reach the right audience and have a positive impact on patients' lives. This role will focus not only on understanding customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape but also on making data-driven investment decisions, collaborating with the cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Value & Access, Media, Forecasting, Finance etc.), to optimize marketing spend.
A successful candidate must be able to recommend and follow through with tangible investment decisions for the executive team and drive trust in analytical methodologies.
Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks, CA or Deerfield, IL site. You will work on-site a minimum of 3 days a week.
Design metrics and KPIs to track performance of spend across in-person, digital, and media channels and attribute impact across the same.
Accountable for measurement of spend effectiveness and for recommendations on optimization of future spend across brands, tactics, channels, and audience types.
Collaborate with Marketing, Media, Finance and other CD&A teams to help build marketing budgets and monitor spending to ensure cost-effectiveness and maximize ROI.
Work closely with Marketing and Finance teams to analyze the financial impact of marketing initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
Instill trust in stakeholders on data driven investment recommendations.
Hire, coach, mentor and lead a team of analytical leads that deliver to promise of driving data driven investment decision for the commercial organization.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics, Economics) and 4 years of applied statistics/data science and/or analytics experience
OR
Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics) and 8 years of applied statistics/data science and/or analytics experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics) and 10 years of applied statistics/data science and/or analytics experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to collaborate with senior partners to translate business requirements into analytical plan and effectively communicate complex ideas/solutions to influence practical decision-making.
Experience with Marketing Mix Modeling and Marketing Mix Attribution, including optimization of media investments
Proven experience in pharmaceutical marketing or healthcare marketing, with a focus on customer-facing roles highly preferred.
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, regulations, and market dynamics preferred.
Strong analytical skills (data sciences, primary market research/ secondary data analytics/ forecasting) with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven investment decisions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence partners.
Proficiency in data analytics tools to drive strategic decision-making.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Develop, mentor, lead, and retain a hard-working analytics team.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
