We are looking for a Senior IT Service Engineer to join our Global Digital Services team in Wyandotte, MI .

Our product family “Digital Laboratory” advises and supports the digitalization of various BASF units in the field of research and development. We are looking for a Senior IT Service Engineer who will support laboratory data systems with a focus on integration and operation of data acquisition systems, laboratory measurement equipment and interfaces for intersystem communication.

  • Supporting and advising our partners on complex IT application aspects as well as on the digitalization and automation of laboratory processes.

  • Configuring and troubleshooting software and hardware, providing end-user support and resolving technical issues. By doing this, you will ensure a smooth operation and functionality of our lab IT systems. Communicating with internal business partners / users to understand their product needs, and always focusing on user experience and satisfaction

  • Reviewing product requirements and developing test scenarios for vendor solutions as well as for tailored self-developed solutions.

  • Collaborating and working effectively with interdisciplinary, multinational and cross-functional teams, communicating technical concepts clearly, and continuously improving the software implementation and delivery processes.

  • Learning and having the willingness to adopt new technologies.

If you...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences (e,g, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Lab) or related fields.

  • 5+ years of practical experience in the support of complex IT systems in the laboratory area, as well as strong experience in integrating laboratory equipment into digital workflows.

  • Experience in agile project methodologies (e.g. Scrum, KANBAN)

  • Experience with IT Change Management Processes and tools (e.g. ServiceNow) as well as Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Strong understanding of network technologies, its management infrastructure, and tools.

  • Basic understanding in cloud native technologies and processes (e.g. Docker, K8S) as well as data modelling and SQL (e.g. Oracle & PostgreSQL DBMS).
