2025 MBA Executive Development Program (Full-time Job for post-MBA)

If that piqued your interest, the Executive Development Program (EDP) might be for you. As a member of DICK’S Sporting Goods (DSG) rotational leadership development program, you will work directly with senior leaders and gain insights and development from the best in the industry Join a cohort of MBA students from some of the top business schools in the world to work on business issues that are at the top of mind to the Executive Leadership Team. Throughout the EDP, you will have multiple mentors from the organization, extensive exposure to various senior executive and C-suite leaders, and the chance to attend networking opportunities with decision-makers and influencers in the industry. You will enjoy all that Pittsburgh has to offer by participating in social and cultural events that also facilitate networking with peer teammates and EDP alumni across the business.

This program is not a direct track into any one position. The program is designed to allow you to build key relationships across our business and develop insights which will prepare you for future leadership positions, all while working on both high-visibility and high-priority initiatives. Your career path will be determined by the work you do, the connections you make, and your passions and interest areas. We will challenge and develop you into a future leader for DICK’S Sporting Goods.

Once hired, you will spend ~24 months in a rotational leadership program designed specifically for top-tier MBA talent. You will work side-by-side with and learn from experts in strategy & innovation, technology, retail, and the sporting goods industry. You will have the opportunity to make an impact right away.

Following a robust and exciting onboarding experience, you will enter the first of your rotations in the most critical parts of our business. Rotations include: 1) Stores/Store Operations, where you’ll have the chance to explore the Athlete and Teammate experience and work on a project that could impact the chain of stores 2) Merchandising, where you will work under the direction of our merchant leaders and with some of the top brands in sport 3) Strategy, where you will take ownership of cross-functional projects as an internal consultant to DICK’S business functions. During the Strategy rotation, you will work both independently and with peers to lead high-priority strategic projects, with report out to the Sr. Leadership Team 4) Marketing, where you will learn how we leverage various channels to interact with our Athlete and drive brand engagement. You will also get the opportunity to explore a flex rotation to deep dive into another strategic function (i.e. technology, eCommerce, finance, etc.).

By being a part of the program, DSG will provide you with the following:

  • Ownership + Delivery of Projects– You will work on high-visibility projects and DSG’s key initiatives
  • Leadership Development– We will prepare you to be a leader through training and experiences, both intentional and organic
  • Career Exploration– You will work in and network across various functions
  • Career Long Networking Opportunities– You will regularly meet with our EDP Support Team while in program to ensure you will always know “where you stand”, including but not limited to regular touchbases with senior leaders in Strategy & Innovation, plus both an Executive Mentor and a Peer Mentor. This will set you up with a network for long-term career benefit.
  • Competitive Compensation – Includes annual salary over 150k, sign-on and annual equity opportunities, signing bonus, full relocation, merit, and performance bonus eligibility. Not to mention free parking, retail discounts, supplemented on-site health club membership, and access to on-site childcare facility, etc.

Past analysis and work performed by MBA hires at DSG:

  • Formulated long-term strategic forecasts for DSG by leveraging internal and external market data to understand the sales opportunities and growth potential of key merchandising functions and product divisions
  • Partnered with Executive leadership and peers to recommend ways to support Athletes in our House of Sport banner more efficiently
  • Conducted strategic analyses of the female customer, the footwear customer/sneakerhead, etc.
  • Developed key messages and collateral with the Real Estate team to pitch our House of Sport banner more effectively to external stakeholders
  • Explored and executed C-Suite agenda topics (e.g., supply chain initiatives, store operations enhancements, Financial analysis, etc.) to support our broader enterprise strategy

What we are looking for:

  • A documented history of academic distinction
  • 3-5 years of previous work experience in a dynamic environment (consulting, strategy, finance, brand management, retail, etc.)
  • Executive Presence
    • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the business from top to bottom
    • Composure with senior leadership team in one-on-one conversations
    • Experience influencing and presenting to senior leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, synthesize recommendations, and present your thoughts and next steps
  • Passion for strategy, retail, sports and/or innovation
  • Comfort working in an evolving, forward-thinking environment
  • US work authorization required
