POSITION OVERVIEW

This accounting position is at the mine site in Marana, Arizona located near Tucson. Reporting to the Site Controller this position works closely with the Corporate Controllership department and will be involved in all financial operations of a Copper Mine. The accountant will perform month-end close duties, financial report preparation and Ad-Hoc analysis for management as needed, assist with day-to-day activities including CAPEX, revision of costs and variance tracking and closing and disposing of capital projects. Candidate must have working knowledge of US GAAP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with closing monthly accounting records, inclusive but not limited on preparing journal entries, reports and reconciliations related to month end activity
Keep good records and accounting for ongoing projects spend and their commitment activity
Report and explain mining production activity in conjunction the Mine General Manager
Develop and prepare financial and operational performance measurement, key indicator reports and project variance analysis for incorporation into monthly and quarterly financial packages.
Provides significant support to business unit managers in preparation of the Annual Capital Budget and assist with Capital Acquisitions inquiries.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to write reports and business correspondence in a professional manner
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Strong managerial, problem-solving, analytical, project management and communication skills
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and Power Point

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience

• SAP experience is a plus but not required.
