What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is looking for a Biologist to be located in our Gainesville, FL office. The position will involve working on a multi-discipline team supporting the Environment, Ecology, and Natural Resources area of practice on projects located within the Southeastern US.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Typical duties and responsibilities include providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance for GIS/digital and data management services to the ENR group for projects located in the southeastern U.S., with a major focus on Florida.
  • Performing wetland delineations, stream assessments, hydrologic determinations, and protected species surveys.
  • Preparing Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 401/404 permit applications, natural resources and ecology technical reports, and helping to support stream and wetland mitigation services.
  • Proficient in using a GPS unit for environmental applications using GIS to make maps and organize field data.
  • Other tasks could include assisting with preparation of project proposals and work plans.


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • 3-7 years of experience
  • 4-year degree in environmental related field such as biology, ecology, or environmental science
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and/or Qualified Hydrologic Professional (QHP) preferred
  • Proficient in ArcGIS Desktop including Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst Extensions
  • Understanding of the utilization of ArcGIS Online and Collector for ArcGIS for field data collection and assessment
  • Understanding of GPS applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel; may be at project sites 50% or more
  • Experience in environmental field work
  • Environmental related training (OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 10-hour, wetland delineation, etc.) a plus
