Founded in 1926, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, not-for-profit educational, historic, and cultural institution that owns and operates one of the largest and best-known museum complexes in the world. About the Position:

The Federal Grant Officer will support all aspects of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s federal grant program across the Foundation. The incumbent will have a thorough and solid understanding of Uniform Guidance. The Administrator will work closely with other internal departments to manage federal grants, including proposals, acceptance, implementation, tracking, and reporting. This role will be a trusted advisor in day-to-day business decision-making regarding federal grants.

Essential Functions:

Administers coordinates, and oversees the federal grant life cycle, including proposals, submissions, award acceptance, tracking, and reporting. Gathers information internally and externally for the administration of federal grants. Develops and sustains strategic relationships that encourage and promote collaboration with a broad spectrum of internal stakeholders; persuades others to comply with federal grant requirements. Has oversight for the Foundation’s compliance with Uniform Guidance standards. Establishes compliance strategies; anticipates and evaluates requirements, trends, and variances; establishes critical measurements; develops action plans; resolves problems; and recommends changes. Works with stakeholders to create and/or update policy under Uniform Guidance for the federal grant process. Performs and aids in grant evaluation to determine outcome and effectiveness. Provides support, education, and training to staff regarding federal grants. Maintains critical knowledge regarding current and proposed federal grant rules and legislation, including Uniform Guidance; and recommends new procedures. Assists with other types of grants (city, state, private, etc.) Performs other job duties as assigned.

Required and Preferred Education and Experience:

Required: Minimum 5-7 years of experience with federal grant administration. Bachelor’s degree or additional experience in lieu of degree. Preferred: Experience in implementing grant software is a plus.

Qualifications:

Must have experience with Federal grant/Uniform Guidance. Stewardship and relationship-building/management skills to expand the Foundation’s mission Integrity and ability to maintain principles under pressure. Ability to perform complex tasks, organize, prioritize, and manage time. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; including superb writing and editing skills. Professional and diplomatic demeanor. Experience in project management, with skills necessary to interpret what is needed for the success of a project and to create appropriate schedules for timely delivery. Familiarization with audits is a plus.
