Since 1984, Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute & Research Institute (FCS) has built a national reputation for excellence. With over 250 physicians, 220 nurse practitioners and physician assistants and nearly 100 locations in our network. We are recognized by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) with a national Clinical Trials Participation Award, FCS offers patients access to more clinical trials than any private oncology practice in Florida. Our patients have access to ground-breaking therapies, in a community setting, and may participate in national clinical research studies of drugs and treatment protocols. In the past five years, the majority of new cancer drugs approved for use in the U.S. were studied in clinical trials with FCS participation prior to approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for laboratory testing, quality control, specimen processing, following laboratory assay instructions, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Assess research laboratory kits supply requirements for clinical trials.
- Ensure timely ordering and delivery of trial supplies for research patient care.
- Performs phlebotomy, ECG and vital signs independently completes laboratory procedures and processing of labs including shipping.
- Assists the Research Coordinators and Manager with duties that include, but are not limited to, filing, collecting data from outside sources, checking and maintaining DDU equipment, maintenance of the laboratory and supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS

- A minimum of two years of medical / clinical work experience in oncology and phlebotomy.
- Experience in a laboratory setting highly preferred.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) is preferred.
- Must be proficient with computer software programs including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) programs.
- Must be willing to travel occasionally to educational and research meetings as well as training sessions.
