·         Serve as a key member of the MP&L team and provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurables to support the departmental goals.

·         Represent the Materials Director, in their absence. Will act as the voice of Materials Management in the plants as needed.

·         Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports including mentoring, coaching, counseling, and corrective action when situations dictate.  Includes responsibility for providing feedback and monitoring performance of in-direct reports.

·         Responsible for ensuring that all plants perform at the expected and required performance level during all phases of Material Control and help to develop corrective actions in these areas as needed.

·         Work with Plant Managers, Materials Managers, and corporate team to develop initiatives and tracking reports to complete projects and attain department and company goals.

·         Work with all departments and levels in both corporate and the plants, to ensure successful achievement of objectives.

·         Manages system utilization, optimization, and compliance relative to QAD, SRIS, MLS/EAM, as well as applicable customer websites.

·         Develops change management proposals, drafts plans, and oversees project activities. Includes development, training, and enforcement of work instructions, process flows, and documents.

·         Provide input into quoting and business development activities (ex. pricing, program management, plant capacity, etc.)

·         Evaluate, document, track, and initiate improvement actions to ensure plant and corporate goals are achieved.

·         Ensure performance and adherence to corporate standards are being met, and initiate corrective action where required.

·         Support and facilitate conference calls, and meetings, with Materials Managers for all key indicators.  Drive root cause and corrective action events.

·         Participate in plant audits and follow up on items needing corrective action. Develop/sustain a “preventive maintenance” program that ensures no violations in future audits.

·         Leads cross-functional teams in any areas assigned.

·         Assess plant layout, storage, material flow, containerization, to ensure plant efficiency and throughput.

·         Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.

·         Work with plant Materials departments to ensure customers’ expectations are met through training (both internal and external)

·         Provides leadership, supervision, and instructions (as needed) to both the plant and corporate materials departments.

This full-time salary-exempt role is a part of our Corporate Materials team and reports to the Director of Materials.

Required experience:

Bachelor’s degree in management or business, or equivalent experience. Applicable Supply Chain Certificates and other certifications (APICS, AIAG, etc....) with a balance of hands-on management experience would also be adequate. Minimum of eight (8) years of plant experience in various jobs and plants (including Supply Chain and/or Materials Manager), and two (2) years of management experience. Possess knowledge of plant department functions and corresponding roles and interact to facilitate overall plant synergy. Detailed knowledge of Transportation, Material, Inventory Control, and Scheduling Systems, as well as overall plant functions. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, as needed, to support initiatives, training, and projects. General understanding of business strategies, finance, marketing, and sales activities. Ability to lead by example, strength and determination to ensure others follow and perform to expectations. Capable of spear-heading multiple projects successfully at one time. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

·     Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Ability to mentor the team in effective problem solving. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of standard quality practices. Ability to interpret financial and performance data.
