PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is an important technology leadership position for enterprise data architecture, management, and reporting needs of the organization. This senior manager position plays an influential role as a member of the leadership team in shaping technology strategy, making investments and priority trade-off decisions, reducing unit costs, negotiating and managing vendor contracts and improving associate talent, commitment and morale. The successful candidate must have further growth potential as a senior executive.

Our ideal candidate will have strong technical competencies in Data Management, Business Analytics, Reporting, be a self-starter with strong communications skills and be willing to be hands-on when needed/required. Must be able to work with multiple functional/project teams simultaneously and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Responsible for providing architecture leadership for Enterprise Data Management and Reporting encompassing master data management, data governance, data quality, security, and visualization.
  • Analyze the business systems integration environment to detect critical architecture/design deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Define the principles to guide solution decisions for enterprise data architecture and business technology.
  • Build solutions that increase business value using industry standard methodologies and scalable integration tools/platforms.
  • Collaborate with leader peers, vendors and across engineering on data/reporting strategies (self-service, standard packages).
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of tools and technologies to improve existing platform.
  • Data domain expert and advisor who builds and ensures alignment with the future state reference architecture.
  • Plan, coordinate, architect, and supervise all activities related to Data Lake (data engineering/ingestion) and Power BI reporting per the product roadmap and business needs.
  • Participate in budgetary planning processes, prepare and administer work unit capital and operating budgets; provide recommendations on desired policies and goals and implement new/revised programs according to established guidelines.
  • Form and cultivate a high-performing team that meets the data and insights needs of the company.
  • Actively champion a robust talent management process; provide candid feedback and high impact coaching to managers and associates.

CUSTOMERS:

  • External - Customers, vendors, partners
  • Internal - Business Units (e.g., operations teams, sales teams, supply chain teams, HR, Finance, Technology, etc.)

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Information and data analysis, Data Modeling, Database Design, Master Data Management, ETL, Data Virtualization, Metadata Management, Tiered Storage, BI/Reporting/Analytics.
  • Experience and/or exposure to databases including MS SQLServer, SAP HANA, Big Data databases (MongoDB, NoSQL, etc.)
  • Experience and/or exposure to Data Lake technologies/platforms (Azure Data Lake, DataBricks Delta Lake, etc.)
  • Problem Solving, Teamwork, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work from designs.
  • Possess strong business acumen and develops strong business partnerships and credibility with senior clients and IT colleagues. Able to offer new ideas and build support for making significant changes.
  • Asks questions and listens to gain input and insight. Fosters an open exchange of ideas.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely. Shows humility. Resolves differences/conflict in a constructive manner.
  • Understands the connections across functions/enterprise and looks at issues from multiple perspectives. Thinks ahead and anticipates as well as looks at downstream and cross-functional implications. Able to formulate long-term plans and communicate how IT can help transform the business. Balances short- and long-range considerations when solving problems.
  • Depth in knowledge and experience with Azure, DataBricks, and Power BI.
  • Responsible for planning and developing project scope and project management guidelines, and ensuring successful team completion of each deliverable
  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience as Lead or Principal Data Engineer/Reporting/visualization.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Computer Science or Engineering, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience from a four-year college or university.
  • Master's Degree desired.
  • 10+ years of deep technical experience in Data Management and Reporting.
