The MBA & MSx Programs at the Stanford Graduate School of Business is seeking an experienced student services professional to join the Student Engagement & Inclusion team as an Assistant Director. The central mission of this role is to serve as an advisor to the leaders of our graduate student-led organizations and to support the initiatives and projects focused on community and belonging at the GSB.

The Assistant Director will form professional relationships with students to build trust,rapport, and respect with the goal of helping them produce events that are safe, inclusive, successful, and reflect well on the institution. The Assistant Director has demonstrated experience in supporting student activities and fostering inclusion and belonging. The Assistant Director will lead and manage projects and processes using influence and negotiation skills. This role has daily interaction with MBA and MSx students and has a significant impact on the student experience for individual student leaders, as well as for the student body as a whole.

The successful Assistant Director enjoys working directly with student leaders and appreciate the role of student activities in creating a vibrant and inclusive community. The Assistant Director is confident in explaining and upholding policy, dedicated to improving current practices, experienced in event planning, and supportive inclusive community building. As a member of a dynamic team that actively collaborates on collective projects and initiatives, the Assistant Director is a team player with a positive attitude, collaborative spirit, and proactive communication skills. Additionally, the Assistant Director has a strong, student-centered orientation, acute problem-solving skills, diplomatic savvy, a good sense of humor, and a sharp mind. Experience with professional graduate business students/culture, especially experience with supporting underrepresented groups is preferred.

This is a full-time position with the expectation of being onsite at least four days per week after the training period.

Your primary responsibilities* include:

Advise MBA and MSx student leaders to help them produce safe, inclusive, and successful events and activities that reflect well on the institution.
Collaborate with student leaders to create a vibrant and inclusive student community.
Support the development and implementation of DEI initiatives, specifically student-led activities.
Understand, interpret, communicate, and uphold policies; recommend policy changes as needed. Serve as a subject matter expert to students and other departments.
Identify, clarify, and resolve highly visible or complex issues while using advanced technical and professional knowledge requiring independent judgment and diplomacy. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Work with teammates to advise and support annual student-led major events and 60+ student clubs, including domestic travel.
Develop and implement student leader resources. This may include student leader orientation, email and web communications, and training tools.
Liaise with groups throughout the school and the university.
Lead, create, and contribute to development of best practices and organizational change to improve processes.
Participate in and support department initiatives and major annual student activities as a fully-engaged member of the MBA & MSx Programs team.
Maintain a flexible mindset to assume Student Engagement & Inclusion special projects as needed.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Confidence in explaining and upholding policy.
Experience in event planning and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to lead and manage projects using influence and sound judgment.
Proactive communication skills within a dynamic team setting.
In addition, preferred requirements include:

Experience with student activities, ideally with graduate students in a highly selective program.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly and effectively communicate information to students and colleagues.
The expected pay range for this position is $69,100 to $104,000 per annum.
