Project Overview:

Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) is seeking individuals to fill Deputy Project Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Management roles supporting a number of prospects within the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and data center business lines. Potential prospects provide an opportunity to engage in fast-paced, complex, and innovative project delivery to support industry growth for the long-term.

 

Job Summary:

In this job, you will be responsible for startup and/or operations activities for an assigned area or wider scope on project. You'll supervise and provide technical guidance to personnel assigned to projects or tasks within area of responsibility and make decisions based on project objectives as well as company policies and procedures. You may receive assignments in the form of objectives or may be asked to establish operational objectives and work plans and and determine how to use resources to meet project schedule and goals or.#LI-MJ1

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Plans and at times directs startup engineering assignments and as directed performs performance reviews for assigned personnel
  • Assists, as directed, in the preparation of project proposals
  • Coordinates with project management, the startup related engineering, construction and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite
  • Prepares or directs the preparation of operations manuals
  • Conducts execution planning for project scope through plans, procedures, schedules and budgets and estimates staffing needs and schedules then assigns work to meet schedule dates
  • Sets up and manages progress reporting framework for the project (startup/ops scope), and reviews on an ongoing basis with team, taking proactive course corrections as necessary
  • Identifies and documents risks and trends
  • Participate in the development, modification, and execution of company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effects
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objects and an understanding of current business trends

 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • Level 1 - Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
  • Level 2 - Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience
  • Broad progressive work experience including supervisory experience at a management level preferably in startup and plant operations, various phases of engineering including design, field construction, or plant operation in large utility, process, or industrial facilities.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of startup and plant operations and practices, calculations, applications of engineering methods, and general applications of computers to engineering problems.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and design criterial in all the areas of startup
  • Extensive knowledge of administrative practices
  • Ability to regularly interact and partner with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers
  • Requires the ability to change the thinking of or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations without damage to the relationship
  • Efficiently manage the work efforts of managers, supervisors, and/or professionals
