Overview

JOB SUMMARY

Qualified candidate will support our global substance use and infectious diseases work in the areas of alcohol use, injection drug use, HIV and HCV. In particular, the Assistant Project Manager will assist Project Manager and Principal Investigator to help coordinate NIAAA and NIDA funded research studies focused on intervention development and implementation science to enhance global health equity with programmatic and policy implications for vulnerable populations. 

The position will include a broad range of responsibilities in project administration and research/evaluation in both domestic and international settings. The first six months to a year will primarily focus on work conducted in rural areas of the United States and then shift focus to work conducted in sub-Saharan Africa. The position requires background or training in one or more of the work’s topical and technical areas of focus, as well as ability to travel, attention to detail, excellent organization, communication skills, comfort interacting with international research teams, and the ability to function both independently and in teams. Position will be in—person and onsite at Wake Forest University located in Winston-Salem, NC with some travel to Charlotte. Some international travel will be required but primarily will be domestic. 

In collaboration with the Project Manager, Principal Investigator, and study investigators, the Assistant Project Manager will assist with various aspects of the study/project directed toward planning (attending meeting, recording meeting minutes), implementation, evaluation, literature reviews, and dissemination of study findings. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Health, Basic Science, or a relevant clinical discipline.  One year of survey research experience including interviewing, supervision of data collection procedures, and training.  An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of computerized data processing and statistical analysis 
  • Familiarity with iPad or other tablet devices
  • Familiarity with clinical research 
  • Understanding of data collection and data collection terminology
  • Demonstrated experience promoting equity and inclusivity within work products and within the workplace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists in administration and coordination of all phases of the assigned project as directed.
  2. Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the study are conducted in accordance with the study protocol.
  3. Represents the project by serving as the study liaison and representative.
  4. May provide guidance to other study personnel by providing training, direction, guidance, and evaluation of work activities.
  5. Coordinates and participates in recruitment, data collection, and follow-up activities.
  6. Assists with the development of collection methods; creates and revises study materials, forms, manuals, and brochures as requested.
  7. Assists with and provides reports as requested.
  8. Provides guidance and/or performs data processing and coordinates data analysis; oversees quality assurance of data.
  9. Establishes and maintains separate billing files on specific accounts related to individuals.
  10. Orders and maintains adequate supplies for the project.
  11. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
