  • THE DEPARTMENTThe Pomona Police Department has a complement of 169 sworn personnel positions and 112 professional (non-sworn) positions, operating out of a centrally located facility adjacent to the Pomona Civic Center.
  • Lateral Police Officer $25,000 Signing Bonus:Candidates hired by the City of Pomona as a Lateral Police Officer are eligible to receive a signing bonus of $25,000.
  • If the candidate has applied for the position of Lateral Police Officer, they must possess or qualify for a Basic POST certificate.
  • May conduct a variety of criminal investigations involving crimes against persons and property, auto theft, white collar crime, and narcotics; conduct covert and undercover investigations as assigned; gather evidence and prepare cases for prosecution.
  • May serve as Intelligence Officer; gather crime related intelligence information and conduct background investigations; coordinate information and activities with outside agencies and jurisdictions.
  • Prior to employment, applicants must successfully pass a background interview with the Police Chief or his designated representative, a polygraph, and an in-depth background investigation.
  • 200 additional monthly payment for employees who possess a Master's, Juris Doctor or Doctorate degree.
  • BILINGUAL PAY: Employees who have the ability to fluently converse in one of the following languages: Spanish, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Korean, Mandarin, Tagalog or American sign languages, and uses the language in his/her work, shall receive additional compensation in the amount $58 per pay period.
