Job Summary

The Manatee Clerk’s Child Support Program provides comprehensive case management including; locating parents responsible for the support of a child, establishing paternity, obtaining, enforcing and modifying child support orders. This position is responsible for providing superior service to the public and to other Clerk’s employees and for accurately and effectively performing administrative support the CSP Program Attorneys.  The Legal Secretary/CSP position is a full-time, non-supervisory position reporting to the (section) Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED Two years’ experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, preferably family law Computer literacy which includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Microsoft Windows suite Basic mathematical aptitude, as well as alpha and numeric filing skills are required Familiar with division’s procedure, terminology and systems Must type at least 35 words per minute Ability to prioritize multiple assignments based on importance Ability to work in team environment

Essential Functions

Maintains a complete and accurate record, using the case management system and established division procedures. Ability to effectively interpret and utilize required filing and information systems for case processing. Monitors and processes arrest and release court documents to the local Sheriff’s office as assigned. Performs clerical and receptionist duties for CSP legal division. Ability to de-escalate complex matters. Completes assigned tasks accurately and timely. Maintains multiple attorney court calendars.  Provides assistance to other CSP teams as needed. Initiates and Responds to requests from external and internal business partners. Gathers information, analyzes case data and takes next appropriate action. Interacts with other legal services providers, attorneys, judiciary, Program Legal Office and other business partners. Makes recommendations based on case information and documentation received. Communicates effectively both verbally and in written form. Works in a team environment; assist in providing support for several attorneys. Prepares documents for e-filing. Work is performed under the close supervision of a higher-level supervisor or an attorney and is reviewed through conferences for the achievement of desired results. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
