Job Summary
Westat is seeking an experienced editor to join its editorial team. The successful candidate will work on proposals and client deliverables such as research study reports, manuals, web content, and internal and external communication products.

A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site at a Westat office location is preferred, remote work arrangements will be considered.

Job Responsibilities
Copyediting for accuracy, consistency, and conformity to style and tone across print, web, and multimedia platformsUnderstanding and implementing client style guides for identity guidelines, usage, and formattingManaging projects through the production life cycle, including coordinating with other creative teams, working with materials developers, and ensuring the overall quality of the workReviewing a variety of products targeted to different audiences across several research topics, including health, social policy, and educationApplying plain language principlesEditing to adjust reading levels, make substantive changes to text, and unify work written by multiple authorsParticipating in meetings with teams and clientsLeading teams of editors on large projectsAssigning projects and proposals to editors on an as-needed basisBasic QualificationsA BA/BS in English, communication, journalism, or a related disciplineA minimum of 10 years of copyediting and production editing experiencePrevious work experience in assessing business materials for editorial needs, prioritizing work, and shifting gears as needed, managing a workload with both short- and long-term projectsDemonstrated experience with substantive editingExperience using a variety of style manuals (e.g., APA, Chicago, GPO, AMA) and the ability to learn and apply other client stylesDemonstrated ability to edit and format references according to various style guidesExperience managing editorial projectsPreferred QualificationsDemonstrated skill in editing a variety of business documents, including proposals, reports, and presentationsExperience working with teams of authors, editors, graphic designers, and production specialistsProficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe AcrobatExperience with Monday.com and Box a plusMinimum QualificationsDemonstrated communication skillsCollaboration with teams, managers, and/or clientsOrganization skills, including time management abilityDetail oriented
