This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Duties
**This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30th, 2024. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be February 13th, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available.**

Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Provider is a Hematology and Medical Oncology trained physician who is board certified and/or board eligible. Provider will provide clinical Hematology/Oncology services at the Northern California VAHCS. This includes diagnosis and treatment of benign/malignant hematologic disorders and solid tumor malignancies, conducting bone marrow biopsies, prescribing and managing chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Teaching and precepting Hematology/Oncology fellows and internal medicine residents are fundamental to the position.
The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clinical
- Provide independent care delivery to patients with cancer and blood disorders.
- Provide direct patient care which includes, but is not limited to: new patient consultations, follow up visits, medication management, evaluation of diagnostic tests and treatment planning, responding to patient secure messages
- Timely completion of medical records
- Telemedicine modalities will be utilized to provide care to veterans distant from our facility
- Assist in coordination of care of veterans outside the VA Medical System if appropriate
- Triaging of new referrals
- Completion of mandatory government/facility trainings
- Instructing and educating UC Davis Hem/Onc fellows and occasionally Internal Medicine residents
