Summary of Position:
The Director of Nursing at LTSC is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect, patient-family centered care through the continuum of perioperative care up to and including preoperative, operating room, post anesthesia care, sterile processing, and anesthesia services. The Director oversees department human resource functions, staff training and ensures staff competencies. The Director will participate in budget development and management, organizational and regulatory compliance goals and ensures regulatory compliance. The Director will participate in the development, evaluation, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures for the surgery center.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in Nursing
- Master’s degree in Nursing preferred
Experience:
- Five years varied and progressive perioperative experience
- Experience with staffing, operational management, and finance.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish working relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Highly effective collaboration skills, written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial documents.
- General knowledge of Human Resource functions including labor laws, recruitment and retention practices and organizational development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
Certifications/Licensure:
- Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Nevada and California.
- Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.

Essential Functions
1. Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.
2. Provides supportive and compassionate leadership to nurses and ancillary staff. Responds to
staff requests in a timely manner. Ensures accurate and timely communication. Supports staff
when dealing with conflicts involving other disciplines and services. Uses a non-judgmental
and professional approach.
3. Manages perioperative services both operationally and fiscally.
4. Directs perioperative personnel with incorporating evidence-based knowledge into decisions for the provision of safe, patient-centered care in perioperative services.
5. Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stakeholders.
6. Collects and analyzes data related to quality or performance improvement projects relative to perioperative services.
7. Verifies that necessary perioperative personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
8. Verifies perioperative services compliance with organizational policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
9. Acts as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
10. Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary.
