In Apple Acoustics we work with the utmost attention to detail, directly impacting the design of products that millions of people around the world love The Audio System Tuning team is a close-knit group of highly-skilled engineers working to ensure Apple devices are tuned for peak acoustic performance under most conditions. We are looking for an experienced Acoustics DSP Engineer to elegantly facilitate the marriage of audio software and acoustic hardware in Apple devices. This person will drive all Audio DSP optimization for Voice Recognition applications in various iOS, MacOS and Wireless Apple products.

Description

Ready to be a member of an elite acoustic hardware organization? As an Acoustics DSP Engineer on the Audio System Tuning team, you will work day-to-day with world-class Audio Tuning Engineers, DSP algorithm & ML teams. Regular interaction with multi-functional teams is a must. And as such, stellar technical communication and collaboration skills are paramount. In addition this role will require substantial attention to detail as well as excellent HW/SW debugging skills. You will tune, optimize, and listen to different internally developed algorithms, and employ advanced techniques to deliver the best Voice Recognition experience across all Apple devices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Audio DSP for audio applications (i.e. echo and double talk, microphone array processing, beam-forming, multi-band compression, equalization, noise suppression in portable devices)
  • Demonstrated coding and debugging skills in Python and C/C++
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-functional teams
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tuning of echo cancellation algorithms, providing the correct tradeoff between echo return loss and double talk performance, and speech intelligibility
  • Background in applying Machine Learning methods and frameworks for automatic speech recognition
  • Knowledge on transducers and their acoustic integration


Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $104,520 and $187,600 annualized, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
