A Postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Department of Biology at the University of South Dakota. A one-year appointment with a possible extension to two years, depending on budget . We seek a candidate to work on an NSF-funded project aimed at developing and testing synthetic plant epsiomes for genetic transformation in model and crop plants. A Ph.D. in plant biology, plant molecular biology, or a related field is required. Demonstrated experience in plant molecular cloning, vector design and construction, conventional genetic transformation, nano-enabled transformation, cell-penetrating peptides, nano complex formation, Gibson assembly, qRT-PCR, and plant cultivation skills are highly desired. A record of scholarly productivity in molecular cloning and genetic transformation will enhance the application. The candidate will work with faculty at the University of South Dakota and have the opportunity to lead and assist with research projects related to plant molecular biology and plant abiotic stress tolerance. They will also participate in collaborative publications and grant writing. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to mentor graduate students and participate in professional development opportunities.
