Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Plant Biology to join our team at the University of South Dakota. The successful candidate will work on an NSF-funded project focused on developing and testing synthetic plant epigenomes for genetic transformation in model and crop plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to develop and test synthetic plant epigenomes
  • Conduct molecular cloning, vector design and construction, conventional genetic transformation, and nano-enabled transformation
  • Develop and maintain plant cultivation skills, including qRT-PCR and cell-penetrating peptides
  • Collaborate with faculty members to lead and assist with research projects related to plant molecular biology and plant abiotic stress tolerance
  • Participate in collaborative publications and grant writing
  • Mentor graduate students and participate in professional development opportunities
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in plant biology, plant molecular biology, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in plant molecular cloning, vector design and construction, conventional genetic transformation, nano-enabled transformation, cell-penetrating peptides, nano complex formation, Gibson assembly, qRT-PCR, and plant cultivation skills
  • Record of scholarly productivity in molecular cloning and genetic transformation
