Seeking companion care for my 77-year old father with end-stage renal failure. He has been on peritoneal home dialysis for 4 years. He is independent and knowledgeable with this dialysis treatment but has limited mobility. He lives at home with his wife, my mother, who is healthy and mobile. But, we are looking for companion care to augment the level of support for him.
He could use assistance with light activities of daily living such as setting up or cleaning up his medical supplies, organizing his room, and food preparation. Dressing. Help with ambulating - getting in and out of bed. Assistance with using a back massager periodically to address aches and pains, as needed.
Our current need is for 1-2 shifts per week initially with 3-4 hours per shift. Shift start/end time and day of week is somewhat flexible, but shifts will be consistently in the afternoon because he is connected to his cycler until around noon each day, which limits his availability in the mornings.
