Summary

This position is assigned to the Mental Health Clinical Center (MHCC), VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS), in the Serious Mental Illness Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SMI-PRRTP) at Perry Point, but may need to provide psychological services at other VAMHCS sites as needed.



Duties

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Major Duties:

  • Provides evidence-based therapies to Veterans with a range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Provides ongoing education to staff on the development and implementation of treatment plans to ensure quality care for patients and to ensure compliance with all internal policies as well as Joint Commission and CARF requirements.
  • For all clinical duties the incumbent works in the SMI-PRRTP delivering specialty services for the treatment of a range of mental health conditions.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team dispositions of patients within the SMI-PRRTP
  • Provides consultation services to medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues, particularly related to identifying mental health concerns commonly experienced by Veterans from all eras of service.
  • Provides ethical individual and group mental health services to eligible combat and non-combat Veterans.
  • Assessment and referral services; design and preparation of diagnostic assessments, providing entry-level services for Veterans of all service eras, formulating and providing individual and group treatments, preparing initial and updated treatment plans, and planning for follow-up care after completion of treatment.
