Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

The Medical Director Primary Care Greenville provides administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership for primary care services at the Greenville VA Health Care Center to ensure achievement of the clinical, research, and education goals. The incumbent reports to the Ambulatory Care Service Deputy Associate Chief of Staff and serves as a key clinical resource for the Health Care Center Administrator and Chief of Staff. This position is a dual clinical and administrative role.
Physician is responsible for delivery of comprehensive primary care to a panel of Veterans. This primary area of responsibility will involve performance of, and documentation of health care delivery for Veterans according to VHA and Durham HCS PC standards. The Physician will be fully qualified and certified to function in both a clinical and administrative role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Durham Veterans Affairs Health Care System. This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in his/her area of expertise to assume major clinical, consultative, educational, research, and administrative duties and assignments related to this care. Clinical duties may also include other assigned duties based on Health Care System need.
The responsibilities include hands on clinical work, oversight, and administration of all aspects of the department, The Medical Director serves as a Supervisor for Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners at the Greenville HCC.
Customer Service

- Facilitates translation of research findings into improved patient outcomes.
- Encourages continuing education for all personnel in the service and ensures compliance with performance standards.
- Creates a climate where continuous learning and self-development are valued. May be asked to facilitate and/or provide training for clinical trainees.
- Responsible for financial management of the department, including budget planning.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Health Care Center goals.
- Encourages an atmosphere of trust and empowerment by example.
