The VA Northern California Health Care system is currently recruiting a Psychologist (Neuropsychologist) for the Mental Health service. The position will be located at the Stockton location. While some virtual care may be provided as appropriate, please note this is not a 100% virtual position.

The position carries out the full range of neuropsychological evaluation and diagnostic services using accepted procedures and test instruments. They perform evaluations both in person (i.e., face-to-face in the clinic) and via telehealth technology to other clinics, depending on the specific needs of the patient being served within our wide catchment area. They provide consultative opinions and advice to other health professionals on the unique needs of patients with neurocognitive disorders and may be called upon to render consultative opinions to outside agencies. The incumbent of the position may be involved in the supervision and training of psychology residents and interns.

Duties for the position include but are not limited to:

Clinical Responsibilities (80%):
Independently provides specialized neuropsychological services at all levels of complexity for patients. Provides diagnosis/evaluation of patients presenting with a variety of neurological, psychiatric, and medical complaints.
Carries out the full range of neuropsychological evaluation, including assessment, diagnosis, and feedback, using accepted procedures and test instruments. Patient and clinic needs will determine whether the services are delivered in person or via telehealth (i.e., clinic to clinic).
Provides expert professional opinions and advice on the unique needs of neurobehavioral patients within the healthcare setting, including such topics as how patients may be expected to respond to treatment, why a patient is responding in a certain way or is non-adherent, and insight into the patient's psychological and neuropsychological conditions.
Participates in program development.
Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues to include patient's decision-making capacity regarding health care, and the unique needs of patients with neurocognitive disorders.
Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients.

Additional Responsibilities (20%)

Timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate.
Responds to patients request for release of records; return telephone calls, linking of services, and appropriate referrals as needed in a timely fashion.
With permission from patients, consults with patients' significant others/ support systems to aid in the facilitation of patients' treatment.
Attends annual training programs sponsored by the VISN, VAMC and other APA recognized training programs to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of specialization.
Participates on selection panels for Staff Psychologist/Neuropsychologist position vacancies or other positions as assigned.
May serve as a supervisor for trainees in our APA-accredited training programs and may participate in recruitment and selection activities for these programs.
Participates in program improvement activities relevant to the Neuropsychology and Neurocognitive Rehabilitation Service, as well as for the Neuropsychology Residency and Clinical Internship Programs.
Other related duties as assigned.
