Job Summary:

Prepare, review and present general and/or discipline (mechanical, piping) estimates in heavy civil, airport, rail, Renewables and Clean Energy. Perform historical data analysis and maintains historical database. Supports estimate reporting and reviews. In this role, you will provide technical guidance to promote consistency across projects, customers, and business lines. You will provide detailed review and support to capital cost estimates, cash flow, working capital assessments, and to the preparation of estimate documentation. Your recommendations ensure accurate cost estimations and will be essential in driving project profitability and success.

Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.” #LI-NP1

 

Major Responsibilities:

Direct Disciplines & Distribs: 

  • Conducts capital cost estimates 
  • Reviews design scope criteria and develops quantities for undefined scope assumptions in coordination with other stakeholders/departments 
  • Participates in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates 

Services: 

  • Conducts detail pricing for non-manual labor service using functional staffing and other direct cost (ODC) inputs 
  • Develops pricing/rates to apply to non-manual staffing in support of project-specific requirements 

Overall:

  • Prepares estimate basis and assumption documentation for their area of responsibility in support of overall estimate development 
  • Supports complex order of magnitude (OOM) estimates 
  • Prepares cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in specialized areas or in specialized discipline area 
  • Identifies risk items and assigns risk levels to portions of the project work and identifies measures to mitigate risk in area of responsibility 
  • Interfaces with designated management personnel on specific sections of estimate presentations 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in management and coordination of major estimate, proposal efforts and/or project forecasts.
  • Experience with civil/mechanical/electrical or construction indirect estimate development
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to present cost information to peers, management and customers.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures including the full range estimate classifications levels. Specifically understands detail level estimates and design packages. Experience with Lump Sum Design Build and/or OOM estimates. 
  • Experience with development of crew and equipment based estimating. Ability to perform productivity analysis of construction operations and verify results by staffing and crew analysis of work operations by craft.
  • Experience with development of contingency and risk assessment models and tools.
  • Understanding of cost index and escalation projections.
  • Ability to Travel
  • Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques.
