Position Overview:

As a Diesel Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing Class 8 trucks and trailers, ensuring all work complies with Beacon Recycling's safety standards and federal and state regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems:   Chassis component repair and maintenance   Multiple and steerable lift axels   PTO components   USDOT inspections   Refuse bodies, including air and electric controls   Air and hydraulic braking systems   Engine repair and after treatment maintenance   Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems   Heating and air conditioning systemsOccasional yard equipment service and repairAssist in coordinating daily ship operations and ensuring timely completion of repair tasksPerforms computer repair diagnostics to determine root cause of issueIdentifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic toolsWork effectively with team members at all levels of the company as a positive, professional exampleRepresent the company in a professional and ethical manner consistent with our mission statementRoadside repair and maintenance utilizing a company service truckOccasional weekend neededOther duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalentTrade school or diesel industry educationState mechanic certifications

Work Experience

3+ years in maintenance, preferred shop environmentSupervisory/Management experience is highly desirable, with potential leadership opportunities within our team as we expand

Skills and Knowledge

Valid CDL license is a plusFabrication experience is a plusAbility to perform inspections and repairs without supervisionAbility to comprehend and follow written procedures, container labels, and all safety precautionsElectronics and computer skills neededAttention to detailReliable attendanceValid Driver's license

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Work is typically carried out from 7am to 5pm.
