SUMMARYJMI Sports is seeking a talented and driven candidate to join the Penn Sports Properties team. An integral part of the property sales team which is responsible for driving sponsorship dollars at the property (Penn Athletics & The Penn Relays), this role also delivers on an individual sales goal while also managing the fulfillment and activation for the property. The successful candidate is extremely organized, highly motivated, creative, interested in and capable of selling effectively and independently, and very comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. This person will work closely with Athletic Department staff as part of a “do what it takes” commitment to the client, the sale, and the delivery of the partnership. We strive to exceed expectations in everyday operations and deliver revenue growth to support the University’s priorities. This full-time position is located in Philadelphia, with occasional local and regional travel. This job is not eligible for work-from-home or remote work options.

  • Achieving annual revenue goals by successfully securing new partnerships, in addition to executing renewals and driving upsells to cover for annual attrition
  • Demonstrating best-practices as directed by Company leadership to achieve exceptional results in-line with Company’s mission of partnership driven, consultative sales
  • Developing professional relationships with  Athletic Department and University team members to ideate, develop, and pitch strategic marketing platforms for new sponsor prospects
  • Developing professional relationships with sponsors and affiliated agencies through consultative sales strategies and objective-based programming 
  • Conceptualizing and developing compelling sponsorship packages to maximize exposure and results for sponsors 
  • Securing and conducting face-to-face sales meetings by leveraging relationships and strategic outreach 
  • Negotiating and closing sponsorship deals and working with legal counsel through contract execution 
  • Maintaining detailed CRM records of sales activity and sponsor communication 
  • Taking direct ownership for certain specific projects such as: KORE data hygiene, rate card management, inventory controls, and activation expense/invoice management, as assigned
  • Implementing best practices as established by the Company to drive effective and competitive sales and fulfillment strategies including delivering professional activation execution plans to drive and manage deadlines
  • Executing the coordination of fulfillment elements with Athletic Department staff (marketing, communications, social media, operations/facilities, etc.) to ensure delivery of all promised benefits 
  • Developing year-end recap decks and renewal/upsell presentations 
  • Providing cooperative mentorship to junior sales and activation personnel to help grow the collective team and improve operations
  • Coordinating and implementing hospitality events and initiatives 
  • Collaborating with the property team and Company leadership on strategies to increase productivity, revenue generation, execution and results 
  • Contributing innovative and impactful thoughts or actions to boost revenues for Company
  • Other duties as assigned 
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in sports marketing and/or sales, or a related field
  • Interest in, and working understanding of, college athletics
  • Experience in event management and sponsor activation
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDFs; Photoshop and/or KORE CRM experience a plus
  • Thorough research and analytical skills including the ability to synthesize findings into actionable plans
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strength in time management and effective multi-tasking
