Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

These positions can either be based out of our Lenexa Kansas or Minneapolis Minnesota office. Opportunities for flexible work are available and we offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Lead and prepare designs for structures including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity. Will lead a team of Engineers and designers on projects. Apply department and industry standards to oversee the preparation of calculations, project drawings, and project specifications. Develop more mid-level employees for their skill development. Review their progress and results and provide feedback and coaching, as needed. Leverages Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create plans, drawings, and details. Perform technical risk assessments and technical checking on projects. Provide insight and solutions to problems in the design to the team and leadership. Incorporate the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements ensuring the projects meet or exceed project goals. Manage assigned projects for the Structural Discipline which includes coordinating with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns. Recommend changes for standards or process improvements, as needed. Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing needs) to project management and department management. Support estimating, scheduling and project controls as needed with information on your project. Support department managers in setting and achieving performance goals for the department.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil or Architectural program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program. Masters degree preferred. Professional Engineer License is required At least 15 years' experience in structural engineering with design in both concrete and steel or subject matter expertise in Concrete design. At least 7 three years working in industrial, manufacturing, water/wastewater or building markets. (Water/wastewater design experience strongly preferred) Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and written form Experience leading projects, where you are the go-to person for the structural aspects of the project, and you have managed project plans, schedules and budgets for the structural designs for the project. Experience leading and developing other engineers. Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations Advanced design skills using engineering software: CSi SAP2000 and SAFE, RISA Suite. Proficiency with BIM software: (Revit preferred), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.3D modeling experience required. Must be able to represent Kiewit Industrial Engineering in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and any other contacts outside Kiewit organization
