Texas Oncology is looking for full-time new graduate Registered Nurse Residents for its winter residency cohort that will begin in January of 2025. Our locations are typically open Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p and are closed weekends and major holidays. Upon successful completion, residents may have the option of remaining in the Austin area or transferring to one of our other geographical regions if desired.

What do the RN Residents do?
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse Resident provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations; must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participates in company-wide quality initiatives; supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
* Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
* Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen.
* Facilitates clinical operations and patient care. Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
* Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
* Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
* Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.
Completed graduation from an accredited program for professional nursing education within three years prior to January 2025; RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state is required by end of residency program in order to be hired on into a permanent position.
