Job Description

The Senior Vice President, Creative Services is responsible for the development and execution of all internal and external led creative content and produced events. The Creative Services Division serves as a catalyst to develop original programming and activations and create original signature events that lend to providing both revenue opportunities, as well as economic impact for Events DC expanded through visitor attraction and direct spending inclusive of increased hotel stays, and restaurant patronage in the District of Columbia. The Senior Vice President will develop a comprehensive creative strategy and timeline that explores and expands beyond industry norms to drive new business opportunities. The Senior Vice President will lead and inspire a team of creative content and production personnel to achieve the organizational goals and Authority's mission. The Incumbent will report to the President & CEO.

Responsibilities

Creative Services
  • Effectively lead and manage Creative Services Division team, contractors and vendors.
  • Lead the creative process while partnering with multi-disciplinary teams from ideation to execution for Conventions/Meetings, Sports/Entertainment and Creative Services.
  • Develop and maintain Creative Services Standard Operating procedures
  • Adhere to Contract and Procurement guidelines
  • Oversight and management for ideation, creation and execution of Events DC's signature events inclusive of live and recorded content.
  • Responsible for curation of ideas and concepts-consistent with the mission of the Authority.
  • Manages collaborative bilateral strategic partnerships and stakeholder community engagement to develop new concepts or events for local, regional, national and international economic and cultural benefit.
  • Responsible for developing conceptual designs for events, promotional live and recorded content, inclusive of layout, format, storyboarding, proposed targeted audience.
  • Conduct appropriate research and perform financial analysis to support the purpose of events, content and programming.
  • Responsible for developing/maintaining budget and pro form as for proposed events, original programming, and activations to ensure financial feasibility.
  • Work with leadership to obtain CBE goals, approvals required for authorization of special projects.
  • Conceptualize 4-6 original signature events annually that activate venues in the Events DC portfolio.
  • Oversee the creative vision, maintenance and strategy for all website, mobile, and digital content across the Conventions/Meetings, Sports and Entertainment venues and brands.
  • Manage a team of creative directors, developers, designers, writers, videographers/editors, producers, and marketing experts responsible for digital recorded and live content and development.
  • Develop and refine annual web and digital content plans and calendars to drive engagement and reach business goals.
  • Work closely with Business Operations and Strategic Growth to understand goals and ensure creative work aligns with revenue, customer/guest experience, and brand objectives.
  • Assist with leading the ideation and execution of new digital products, features, and initiatives to expand the authority's digital footprint.
  • Manage and further develop GATHER platform.
  • Monitor performance metrics and analytics to assess what content and experiences are resonating most with audiences.
  • Establish budgets, timelines, and project management frameworks for smooth project delivery.
  • Work effectively and efficiently with Communications Department.
  • Develop customized event proposals and negotiate directly with clients as needed.
  • Represent the organization as the Executive creative leader.
  • Establish global creative services opportunities, internally and externally.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development to grow internal creative talent.
Production Services
  • Responsible for managing the Production Department internally and external contractors.
  • Develop a 5-year creative strategic plan.
  • Manage all aspects of internal and external event production and content for both small and large scale events, from approved concept through event execution.
  • Align internal Production, Programming and Operations teams to support increased business operations and growth.
  • Oversee and track all aspects of event budget and production schedules related to event execution and Events DC's internal and external productions.
  • Negotiate and procure service partners, sponsors, talent, and any other vendor agreements related to production.
  • Assist with the implementation of communication plans for events.
  • Oversight and management for onsite event operations resources, inclusive of in- house staff and vendor personnel, as well as collaboration with other Divisions to assist with event execution; manage all facility or event related equipment or services related to event production (audio visual, rigging, food & beverage, telecommunications, security, lighting, technology, etc.).
  • Manage or facilitate customer engagement (both internal and external) as part of event production to enhance event experience.
Managerial Administrative
  • Management of the Creative and Production departments including oversight for the budget within the divisions.
  • Evaluate Return on Investment and ensure in-house events enhance brand, revenue, and operational capabilities.
  • Foster a thriving, inspirational, creative, and productive work environment lending to the team being more engaged in advanced thinking and developing outside the box concepts, while also promoting team brainstorming sessions, knowledge-sharing, and other strategic, as well as creative tools.
  • Supervise and develop all staff within the Creative Services Division, adhering to Authority's personnel and standard operating procedures.
  • Formulate short and long-term creative goals and strategies.
  • Maintain consistency over the quality and Authority message.
  • Assign tasks to team and maintain accountability.
  • Monitor creative budget, making sure all projects are delivered within the pre-set projected parameters.
  • Enforces deadlines and maintains efficiency in the creative department. Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Conduct pre and post debrief meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Video Production or related field.
  • Fifteen years of experience as a respected leader in event creationand/or production.
  • Experience with creatingoriginal and inspiredprogramming for inclusive demographics.
  • HR-related experience includinghiring, managing, performance reviews, compensation packages, etc. required.
  • Experience in Convention/Meetings, Sports Entertainment and Live recorded content.
