We’re searching for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team of high-performing professionals and keep our finances positioned for continued success. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on our operations, helping us to analyze, strategize, and grow our financial position.
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive leadership team, this seasoned operator will understand current accounting practices and trends and have experience raising capital and adapting to change. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.
Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for the executive leadership team and board of directors
Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (e.g., Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports
Review the planning process and suggest improvements to current methods
Support organizational change management via transparent and consistent communication, understanding of the organizational dynamics and structure, and willingness to coordinate and collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team
Analyze operations to identify areas needing reorganization, downsizing, or elimination. Work with the executive leadership team to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments and evaluate and manage capital structure
Partner closely with Chief People Officer on HR operations and external service providers (e.g., payroll, benefits, recruitment)
Expertise in accounting or finance
Executive leadership experience in small to medium-scale organizations
Experience leading organizational financial and revenue strategy over multiple annual planning cycles
Executive experience with multi-faceted business models and their associated revenue recognition
Strong communication skills, including but not limited to negotiation, influence, and consensus building, to interface with employees/customers at all levels of the organization and external customers, vendors, and agencies
Strong conceptual thinker with a pragmatic approach to driving day-to-day operations. Proven ability to form close partnerships, cross-functionally internally and externally, to solve problems and execute initiatives
Highly skilled in managing senior and executive stakeholders
Structured, organized, and extremely detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written skills
Experience developing, managing, and implementing projects, plans, and processes
Experience with the full process of applying for public funding, administering these grants including subgranting, and reporting on government awards
Ability to travel occasionally
