LOCATION: Tempe, AZ or REMOTE (Optional) Description: Summary -Performs as project leader in developing new power generation resource options. Leads and coordinates internal teams and external consultants on resource development activities including site selection, land acquisition, permitting, siting, infrastructure, technology selection, conceptual design, and issuance of necessary agreements. What You'll Do -Leads the investigation and evaluation of future resource options to meet load requirements and achieve corporate goals. These decisions have a direct and lasting impact on financial performance, reliability and achieving sustainability goals. -Performs as project leader in the development of new generation resources, including site selection, land acquisition, transmission, fuel supply, water supply, permitting, siting, technology selection, conceptual design, cost estimates, schedule, and issuance of necessary agreements. -Leads and coordinates project activities supported by a matrix team consisting of internal departments and external consultants/contractors. -Presents results of analysis and recommended courses of action to leadership, external stakeholders and customers involving resource decisions valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. -Directly assists in the development of others’ knowledge, skills, and abilities. Train new analysts and engineers in resource planning, acquisition, and development. Provide direction to analysts and engineers in the development of new resource alternatives. Creates and manages Capital and O&M budgets for major projects. This would include but not limited to planning, design, engineering, procurement and construction. What It Takes To Succeed -A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in a related field. Education -Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment. Additional Information -This position will require an experienced Project Lead who has knowledge of the steps involved in siting and developing new power generation resources. The successful implementation of these resource development projects is critical to ensuring that the organization is well positioned to meet future reliability needs and transition to a lower carbon future. The resources that this position is responsible for developing are valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. New resource development is a high-visibility effort that has significant reputational, political, and financial implications to the organization, and is the subject of significant attention from the Board, external stakeholders, customers, and other members of the communities served. The primary focus for this position will be developing resources to meet generation needs, support reliability, and meet board-established carbon reduction goals at the lowest cost for customers. This position will require a significant effort and in-depth knowledge and experience with site selection, regulatory and environmental factors, conceptual design, permitting, cost estimating, and scheduling for several resource types such as: thermal, solar, wind, geothermal, long-duration energy storage, or others.
