  • The Diagnostic Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient schedules for multiple locations and diagnostic modalities: MRI, Mobile MRI, CT, US, Nuclear medicine, Fluoroscopy, Bone Density, PFT, Urodynamics, ABR, Nephrology US, and special procedures with and without sedation/anesthesia.
  • Responsible for accurate data collection, documentation, and data retrieval using hospital computerized systems.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain knowledge of multiple imaging protocols and contraindications to coordinate accurate scheduling of imaging exams. Reports to department leadership.
  • Scheduling all radiology visits
  • Log into the phone call que system (called Feness), wear a headset and answer calls in succession. Everyone takes a turn with the next phone call that comes through.
  • Those phone calls will likely be from doctors request to schedule diagnostic testing
  • After they schedule the patient and hang up, they have 5 minutes to finish whatever is needed to complete the scheduling (put notes in, etc)
  • Also have a fax machine system (WQM) - this is used for all doctors outside of CHKD who send orders in, send orders into the fax system that puts it into the software.
  • The scheduler will go into the software and look to the fax that came through and match it with the patient. They arent reaching out to schedule - they are just tagging the fax on the patient chart if they have one already in EMR
  • In their EMR Powerchart, they have a group where nurses and DRs offices will send requests to schedule through the EMR (these are all CHKD doctors)
  • There is a pool/queue that all of the schedulers can go in to see who needs scheduled - there are messages that come in on a group in the EMR - request for scheduling and they will schedule the patients and message the office back to let them know they are schedule
  • This person schedules (whatever is available) and then the office will call the family to let them know when they are scheduled (the office should get their availability)
