The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The Stroke/Brain unit offers comprehensive, advanced care and treatment to minimize the effects of stroke, helping patients recover their health and functioning, and make the most of their capabilities so patients can get back to their lives Designated by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and by the State of Missouri as a Level 1 Time Critical Diagnosis Center of Excellence, Research Medical Center’s Stroke Center treats more than 1,200 stroke patients each year from the Kansas City area and surrounding regions.

~16- Bed Unit focused on Comprehensive Stroke Patients
Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

We offer a Stroke Center, a walk-in clinic, and orthopedics across three Kansas City locations. Research Psychiatric Center is a 95+ bed facility. We offer acute inpatient, day treatment, and community-based outpatient behavioral healthcare. We treat adolescents, adults, and senior adults for emotional disorders, mental illness, and substance abuse.
