We are seeking a Generator Support Technician, to lead scheduling and coordination of service and to assist with maintaining, inspecting, testing, altering, and repairing generator systems.
As an APL Generator Maintenance Technician, you will...
- Coordinate the scheduling of preventative maintenance and service of generators and related equipment that support life safety and standby requirements.
- Build and maintain documentation of generator equipment inventory as needed.
- Diagnose and solve problems using detailed processes where available and make recommendations for process and equipment improvements where needed.
- Assist with ensuring the operational safety of building generator systems with a heavy focus on combustible engine components.
- Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control system problems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot issues.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you …
- Possess familiarity and basic knowledge of generator systems and demonstrated five or more years of internal combustible engine repair experience;
- Are you proficient in PC tools including Microsoft Office and E-mail;
- Possess organizational skills and be able to document work efficiently;
- Are highly motivated with strong customer focus and the ability to interface with all levels of staff;
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple and shifting tasks and prioritize work to meet deadlines;
- Have the ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment;
- Possess a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a driving record evaluation;
- Are able to work day shift, this position will likely experience overtime and emergency call-ins,
- Will wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and other personal protective and safety equipment and work outside in inclement weather conditions.
- Are you able to climb/work off ladders and scaffolding, in confined spaces, and at heights (roofs, antennas, etc.), lift/carry 50 lbs.
- Will operate APL vehicles and industrial equipment and assist other trades as advised.
