Medical Technologist
Discipline: Allied Health Professional
Employment Type: Per Diem
**Supervision:**
* Serves as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in absence of supervisor or Lead MT
**Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens
* Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens
**Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens. 
* Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens
**Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers
**Attends CARES training.
* Answers telephone in an polite and efficient manner
**Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees
**Assures department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner
* Assists with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives
* Assures appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control
**Assists with training of students and new employees
* Stays abreast of regulatory changes
**Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
* Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
Adheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI)
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Science or related field; ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, required within 12 months after incumbent’s graduation form an accredited Medical Technology Program. Valid Mississippi Driver’s License and acceptable driving record/history; required North Mississippi Health Services Job ID #2232-0007XN.
