Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Materials & Processes Engineer. Principal Materials & Processes Engineer (M&P) will be responsible for leading all non-metallic efforts on a classified program.

- Will review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures and may be asked to travel to subcontractor locations to address M&P issues.

- Performs root cause analysis of material failures and provides effective solutions to production issues.

- Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.

- Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.

- Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.

Must have a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 9 years of experience to include a background in composites for airframe structures.

- Experience with metallic fabrication and design on aircraft

- Experience with repair processes for metallic materials used in aerospace structures

- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

BS or MS in Materials Science or similar

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
