The Seattle-King County Dental Society is a membership organization of approximately 1,700 dentists practicing in King County, Washington. Since its founding in 1892, the Society has promoted the highest levels of oral health for the citizens of King County and provided critical support and educational opportunities for the many dental professionals practicing in the County. The Seattle-King County Dental Foundation, established in 1992, works closely with the Society to provide access to dental care for the under-served citizens of King County. The Foundation also supports dental educational programs for members of the public and healthcare professionals.

Role Responsibilities:

Summary : The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the overall strategic direction, growth, and management of the Seattle-King Dental Society and the Seattle-King County Dental Foundation. This includes developing and implementing strategies to grow membership and secure sponsorships, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations, financial management, and stakeholder relations.

The Executive Director will serve as the face of the organization in partnerships and advocacy work. In collaboration with the Executive Council, the Executive Director will clarify the key priorities of the Society and help set the strategic direction of the organization.

Responsibilities :
Membership Growth :

  • Establish short and long-range plans and goals to achieve organization membership objectives
  • Design and implement a member engagement, retention, and recruitment strategy
  • Collaborate with the Executive Council to stimulate member engagement through benefits and events as a means of membership renewal

Sponsorship Development:

  • Create sponsorship packages and proposals
  • Proactively identify potential corporate partners and manage relationship with existing partners
  • Negotiates and manage sponsorship agreements and serve as the point of contact with corporate partners on sponsorship execution.
  • Establish tracking mechanisms, monitor the impact of sponsorship efforts and optimize as necessary

Strategic Planning and Organizational Health :

  • Identify priority areas for growth and development to serve our members.
  • Develop an effective overarching strategy for sustainable growth that aligns with the Society and Foundation’s missions.
  • Create a list of goals and strategies that are actionable and measurable.
  • Oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting processes and prepare the annual operating budget. Work with the Executive Council to develop organizational budgets.
  • Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet, and cash flow financial statements. Serve as the financial liaison with the Executive Council providing financial reports.
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports for Foundation grants and track reporting of Foundation expenditures. Work with the Foundation Board for timely grant proposal submissions and reviews.
  • Identify and pursue additional sources of organizational revenue.

Stakeholder Relations :

  • Build partnerships with and provide information to a variety of stakeholders
  • Participate in, and occasionally lead, meetings, events, and conferences as a representative of the organization
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization in public forums
Candidate Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be able to :

  • Prioritize time-sensitive and ongoing projects effectively, regularly communicating status and workflow implications.
  • Take initiative, demonstrate resourcefulness and respond flexibly to changing work needs.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills, a very high level of attention to detail and follow-through
  • Show exceptional judgement and integrity, including maintain confidentiality, as appropriate

Qualifications :
Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • A minimum of five years demonstrated work experience in fast-paced environments
  • Proven experience in membership growth and sponsorship development
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills (i.e. ability to organize, manage time, prioritize work and meet deadlines)
  • Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal communication, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector
  • Familiarity with website publishing tools
  • Experience working in a diverse environment

While most work is performed during regular office hours; some weekend and evening work is required. There are occasional in-person events that this individua is expected to be in attendance at.
