This Job Description for the Staff RN on Labor and Delivery provides criteria for evaluation of the Registered Nurse working in the Staff RN position. The Staff RN assigned to the Labor and Delivery Unit cares for adolescent, adult and neonate patients. 
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
Responsible for adhering to the hospital policies and procedures.
Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
Responsible for the application and advanced interpretation of maternal/fetal monitoring.
Assumes the responsibility of charging the unit, as needed.
Models and reinforces behavior consistent with goals for teaching the patient, communicates patient status to appropriate member of the healthcare team, and provides support to the family, as needed.
Scanning supplies form P.Responsible for scanning patient armbands and administering medications via Emar
One year of Labor and Delivery required
Acquires and maintains current fetal monitoring certification through AWHONN
