Experience or 'Must have' skills early recognition of change in patient condition, clear communication and escalation with providers, critical thinking skills, CRRT preferred, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, ventilator, various drains/surgical sites
Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? In the ICU 24/7? yes, intensivist on unit days and/or nights, APP's on unit 24/7
RT in ICU 24/7? RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? What brand are the tele monitors? Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Weekend Requirements 4-6 days in 6 weeks depending on coverage

may be flexed off if census is low, not usually a problem. Standby only if unit closes for low census, again, not usually a problem maybe once/year if that
Floating Requirements first to float, then OT floats, then remainder of staff. Float to other ICU's within hospital, skill set will be considered for assignment
Unchipped regular nail polish is allowed. Professional and identifiable as nursing staff
