E. Dillon & Company is seeking a new Controller/CFO to undertake all aspects of financial management, including the accounting for E. Dillon & Company's dolomitic limestone manufacturing facility. The Controller/CFO will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing timely and accurate internal and external reporting, preparing the Board of Director's financial reports, leading, coaching, and supervising the Accounting Department staff.

Responsibilities:

The Controller/CFO will be responsible for driving the fiscal and administrative integrity of the organization, in addition to providing strategic leadership for all financial management (including inventory), financial reporting, accounting, and cash management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with company guidelines and accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial and performance reporting of business results and communicate with the Board of Directors by providing a clear picture of forces and trends within the business.
  • The critical point of contact in managing the external audit engagement with a third-party audit, including driving internal information delivery to auditors.
  • Key point of contact and internal expert for the company's third-party financial system (Great Plains).
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, including transactional control with plant production.
  • Liaison with 3rd parties (tax advisor and agent) to file income tax (state and federal) returns.
  • Provide technical accounting support to the business, including guidance on changes in accounting standards, inventory control and management, and systems support;
  • Guides capital equipment purchases and financing relationships;
  • Maintaining a high ethical standard that exceeds any required legal and regulatory levels and keeping the well-being of employees as the top priority in all decision-making;
  • Preserving, protecting, steering, and maintaining the distinguished Dillon company culture;
  • Making decisions based upon long-term (decades-long) goals and visions;
  • Address safety and health and regulatory CapEx needs as they arise with prompt actions;
  • Implementing advanced technologies and systems to maximize efficiencies and innovation;
  • Month-end reconciliation to sub-ledgers, Entering and evaluating Cost of Goods and inventory valuations.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA qualified
  • Relevant experience (10 + years) in a corporate environment
  • Experience working in the mining industry or heavy manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and experience in forecasting, budget preparation, and developing critical controls for financial management.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with a more extensive ERP solution such as Great Plains

Schedule:

The full-time role will be primarily on-site in Southwest Virginia.
