We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legislative advocacy, a deep understanding of the policymaking process, and excellent communication skills. As Director of Legislative Affairs, you will be responsible for the following:

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute legislative strategies to advance the organization's policy priorities on Capitol Hill.

Cultivate relationships with key congressional offices, committee staff, and relevant stakeholders.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze their impact on the organization, and provide timely updates to the team.

Draft persuasive advocacy materials, including policy briefs, talking points, and letters to members of Congress.

Coordinate advocacy efforts, including organizing meetings, briefings, and congressional hearings.

Represent the organization at coalition meetings, policy forums, and other relevant events.

Collaborate with internal teams to align advocacy efforts with organizational goals and priorities.

Stay informed about emerging issues and trends related to the organization's mission and advocacy focus area.

Track legislative and regulatory activity, including bill introductions, hearings, and markups.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field.

At least 5+ years of experience working as a lobbyist, legislative staffer, or in a related role on Capitol Hill.

Deep understanding of the legislative process and congressional procedures.

Proven track record of building relationships with congressional offices and stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working for a non-profit organization or advocacy group.

Demonstrated expertise in [specific policy area relevant to the organization].

Established network of contacts on Capitol Hill and within the advocacy community.

Experience organizing advocacy events, such as briefings and fly-ins.

Familiarity with legislative tracking software and advocacy tools.
